About CMI & EFL/ESL

Who is the author and what does she do?

If you are bursting with curiosity, feel free to read more here or have a look at the Virtual Classroom where both my distance learning and onsite students study English.

What’s this blog all about?

Perhaps I should start off by saying that I am an EFL/ESL teacher specializing in CMI, or at least this is what I tend to believe I am.  This is my second blog. The first one was created in partial fulfillment of the requirements of one of the teacher-training courses that I did in spring 2007.  When the course was over I thought that it would be unwise to delete everything I had posted there so now I have a proper blog:)

What’s CMI & EFL/ESL?

CMI stands for Computer-Mediated Instruction, EFL – English as a Foreign Language (ie learned in a country where it is not spoken) and ESL – English as a Second Language (ie learned in an English-speaking country by speakers of other languages)

To blog or not to blog?

If anyone had told me a few years ago that I would eventually end up as a blogger, I wouldn’t have believed them.  I sort of hoped that it would be possible to do without it as I tend to pursue blogging as deliberate exposure of everything private, especially ideas. It has become so easy these days to plagiarize and forge so many things and blogging is partially to blame.

On the other hand, blogging is said to have numerous advantages, and it is my goal at the moment to find out what they are:)
