Which is Better: a Course or Just a Few Standalone Lessons?

If you need 1-3 short tutorials to do with a very specific topic, then

no big course planning is necessary, planning each lesson individualy will suffice. However, if you intend to take more than a dozen 30-minute or longer lessons spread over 2 or more weeks,and there are several goals and objectives, a proper course syllabus is a must.
